Assuming they are all available (I have a date with the book room on Monday morning), the following titles will be options for our second term literature circles. If you will be out of class on Wednesday, you must email me your rankings (top five, please) by Tuesday evening or I will assign you to whichever group needs another body.
• The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
• The Color Purple by Alice Walker
• Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton
• Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
• Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway
• The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
• Huck Finn by Mark Twain
• Intruder in the Dust by William Faulkner (or The Sound and the Fury?)
• My Antonia by Willa Cather
I will describe each book in class on Wednesday, so if you'll be in school then you don't need to do anything.
